Home Visit

First, book a free, no-obligation home visit at a convenient time for you. We’ll come to you, measure up, show you our samples and discuss the design options available for your windows. Tell us what you have in mind or let us guide you towards your perfect shutters. We’ll then provide a formal quote inclusive of the shutters and installation, for you to review.

Production

Then, once you’re happy with your quote and would like to go ahead, we require a deposit so that we can place an order with our manufacturer. Your made to measure shutters will arrive within our current lead times. We’ll arrange a suitable time to come back and fit them. The balance is payable 48 hours prior to install.

Installation

Finally, on the install day we will turn up to fit your stylish new shutters, on time, and clean up after ourselves as if we were never there. Before we leave we will show you how to operate and maintain your lovely new shutters so that you can get the best use out of them for years to come.

We are an independent Brighton based plantation shutter company providing the complete Design, Measure and Installation service.

We Shutter was founded by Josh and Emma from Brighton, East Sussex in 2020. With over 10 years of experience in the plantation shutter industry, and a keen interest in interiors and home improvement, we love seeing how our shutters can transform a space from something average to something really special.

Do you cover my area?

We Shutter are based in Brighton and cover East Sussex and West Sussex. We often travel further so get in touch to find out if we cover your area!

What is included in the quote?

Our quotes are inclusive of the full service – design, measure and installation – including VAT.

How long is a quote valid?

Our quotes are valid for 90 days, as long as no work has been done to the windows during this time.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment via BACS or card payment.

Do I have to pay up front?

A 50% deposit is required upon acceptance of a quote and the remaining balance 24 hours prior to installation.

What is your lead time?

Our standard lead time is around 10 to 12 weeks via sea shipment, and we offer an express service which takes approximately 7 to 9 weeks via train.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, our warranty is 5 years and covers any manufacturing defects over that period.

What are your shutters made from?

Our high quality plantation shutters are made from Paulownia hardwood, but we also offer a PVC option for high moisture areas.

What size slats do you offer, and what is the best slat size for my window?

We offer various sizes to suit your windows – 64mm, 76mm and 89mm.
The best size of slats depends on a number of factors, like the size of the room, the style of the home, and the level of privacy and light you want.

Do you do custom colours?

Yes, we can colour match to Farrow & Ball, Little Greene Paint Company and Dulux Trade paint colours at an additional cost

Can you fit shutters on Velux windows?

Yes, we have a special frame designed for Velux windows.

Are shutters suitable in a bathroom?

Shutters are a great choice for your bathroom, except where there will be water running directly over them e.g. in close proximity to a shower. In cases where there is high moisture we can offer a PVC option.

Are they easy to clean?

Yes! A soft, damp cloth is all you need!

Do shutters provide insulation?

Our shutters can add an extra layer and help to save money on energy bills
Shutters can help reduce heat loss, with well-fitting shutters potentially reducing heat loss by up to 62%.

Do shutters provide full blackout?

Louvered plantation shutters will give you around 75-80% black out when the louvres are fully closed upwards.

Can you fit shutters to any shape window?

Yes, we can usually fit shutters to unusual shaped windows like triangles, arches and circles. Get in touch with a photo of the window and we’ll see if we can help!
